My father was killed while loading sacks of rice. My mother couldn't find work and we lived on young bamboo plants until she contracted malaria and died in 2002. After that, I lived with my aunt and uncle who ordered me to take care of the pigs. Every day I had to go to the rice fields to pick vegetables for the pigs and sometimes I did not eat enough. After coming to the orphanage, I was told five girls were chosen to make Okoa Jewelry I was so happy because I was in that group! I am grateful for Okoa because they have given me a chance to attend University to become a professor.

I used to live with my parents and 5 siblings. But my father had sexual relationships with other women and contracted HIV. He infected my mother and both died of HIV. After they died I lived without hope. Sometimes I wished I died like my parents. No longer. Asia's Hope's orphanage gave me a new life, hope, food, and enough time to go to school. The Okoa jewelry I make is making a real difference in my life. I am so grateful people are praying for me to have a successful future as an accountant. May God bless you.

Before I came to live at the orphanage, I had a hopeless life. My father died. My mother remarried and then abandoned me. I was sent to live with an elderly grandmother who never had enough food to eat. When I make Okoa jewelry I begin to imagine a better future. I hope and trust God will provide for me through making the jewelry so I can study management at the university and start a business.

When I was 7, my father died and my mother was constantly sick. A few years later, I went to work for a bakery because our family did not have enough rice. Every morning before school, I got up early and went to the bakery. After school, I sold small cakes and worked in the rice fields. Sometimes I went to school without money and the teacher was very angry with me because I could not pay. These days are behind me now because I live at Asia's Hope's orphanage. I thank God for sending the people from Okoa to teach me how to make the jewelry. I admire them for thinking of my future plans. I hope to use the money to go to university and become a doctor.

I am 19 years old. My mother left me to find work in Thailand after my father died. No one took responsibility for me and my 4 siblings. We did not have money to buy food. So we walked around the rice fields picking vegetables to sell at the market. My life really had no hope. I thank God for bringing me to Asia's Hope's orphanage and for bringing the Okoa team to teach me how to make jewelry. Making the jewelry is a big blessing because without it I could never study at the university. May God bless you.
